The South Goa Sessions Court on Monday held guilty 21-year-old Aman Gopal Kavitya, a native of Pune in connection with the murder of Colva-based rent-a-bike owner Baptista D’Costa at Betalbatim.
The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Vincent D’Silva will now hear the accused on the point of sentence on December 23.
In this case that had taken place on January 20, 2018, at Betalbatim, Baptista was stabbed to death at Betalbatim. The Colva police had used technology to nab the accused, who was a rickshaw driver, who used to eke a living by driving rickshaws. Though he is a native of Pune, the accused has been staying in a rented room at Colva for many years.
After his arrest, within two days of the murder, the Colva police had recovered the gold ornaments, including three finger rings, a bracelet, cash of Rs 10,000, besides the mobile and the knife used to murder Baptista on January 20 night.
