20th Lokotsav in Poinguinim from Dec 7

Adarsh Yuwa Sangh (AYS) and Balram Educational Society (BES) in association with Art and Culture Department will organise the 20th two-day Lokotsav (folk festival) at Adarshgram in Amone-Poinguinim on December 7 and 8.   

The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani at 10.30 am on December 7, informed Organising Committee Chairman and former minister Ramesh Tawadkar during a news conference in Panaji on Wednesday.   

“We have been organising this festival since the last 19 years to preserve Goan art, dance and culture, besides giving incentives to Goan traditional food,” said 

Tawadkar.   

He informed that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, Coordinator of Youth Hostel Anant Joshi, Poinguinim ZP member Dr Pushpa Aiya, Khola ZP member Shanu Velip and Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Nitu Sameer Desai will be present at the inaugural function.   

Noted personalities will be honoured and felicitated in the second session of Lokotsav-20, which will be attended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral.   

Noted women personalities will also be honoured at the event, which will be attended by Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate, MLA of Maharashtra Manisha Chaudhary, and Goa BJP Mahila Morcha President Sulakshna Sawant.   

The Lokotsav-20 will conclude on December 8 in the presence of Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste, Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, Deputy CM Babu Kavlekar and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude.
