CANACONA
Following up on court-ordered demolitions on CRZ violations, authorities are undertaking a fresh verification of tourism structures at Agonda beach.
According to sources, eight different authorities led by Canacona Dy Collector Pritidas Upasso Gaonkar began verification of tourism structures, which were granted NOCs by the GCZMA to conduct tourism trade for the ensuing tourism season.
It may recalled that while GCZMA was recently executing court orders to demolish 47 tourism operators at Agonda, authorities had not touched 27 of them as they were equipped with NOCs from GCZMA to conduct tourism trade during this tourism season.
The survey is being conducted to verify if there are any violations of terms and conditions of GCZMA issued NOCs, such as area of structures and if any concrete base has been constructed.
The team led by the Canacona Dy Collector, includes the Canacona Mamlatdar Raghuraj Phaldessai, a range forest officer, a tourism department representative, Agonda Panchayat Secretary Sushant Lolayekar, PWD (Bldg) assistant engineer, Town and Country Planning(TCP) Dy Town Planner and a Surveyor.
According to source, the structures of 19 of the 27 tourism operators who escaped demolition after they presented the GCZMA NOC, were inspected during the day-long exercise on Wednesday.
Sources further informed the remaining tourism structures belonging to 8 tourism operators would be taken up for verification on Thursday and a report will then be submitted to the collector (south).
