A 38-year-old man was found murdered with several stab wounds near his house at Koriyad Mulas in Paroda-Quepem.
According to reports, the body of Menino Oliveira was found in the bushes near his house by neighbours at around 8.30 am. On noticing deep wounds all over the body, locals notified Quepem Police and a police team visited the site for investigations.
While the body was found about 60 metres from the house of the deceased, the knife allegedly used in the incident was found lying on the floor inside his house.
Household items were also found scattered in the house and there were thick patches of blood inside the house, indicating there was a struggle between the accused and deceased prior to his death.
According to reports, Oliveira was working at an automobile showroom in Fatorda and was residing with his mother
Incidentally, his mother had gone to her daughter’s house as she wanted to go for the feast of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa and the deceased was found alone when the murder took place.
Police pressed a police dog squad and fingerprint experts into service, but the dogs merely followed the path from the house of the deceased to the road.
South Goa SP Arvind Gawas, Quepem DySP Kiran Podual, Quepem PI Santosh Dessai, and a police team recorded statements of around 30 persons in connection to the case. Quepem Police has registered a case under Sections 302 and 201of IPC and investigations are in progress.
