The South Goa demolition squad on Wednesday began the exercise of razing down the structures standing in the property of National Institute of Technology, Goa at Cuncolim.
Heavy earth-moving machinery entered the property on Wednesday along with deputy Collector, Margao Ajay Gaude to carry out the demolition exercise as per the requisition made by the NIT, Goa.
While two structures were razed to the ground, the one storied building could not be demolished by the machinery.
Though it could not be confirmed whether one of the owners have knocked the doors of the court to obtain a stay on the demolition exercise, officials of the demolition squad informed that the squad will deploy specialized machinery to raze the one-storied building in the coming days.
The demolition exercise was carried out under strong police protection. Heavy police bandobast was maintained at the site as a matter of abundant precaution.
