The State government’s initiative to administer the first dose of Covid vaccine to as many beneficiaries from the 45 years and above age group took off to a strong start with 2,509 beneficiaries being vaccinated on the first day in 34 panchayat and municipal areas.
Agarwada Chopdem panchayat (307) under Community Health Centre Pernem succeeded in covering 200 beneficiaries, the highest number recorded at any panchayat on Wednesday.
Collem panchayat (200), Cola panchayat (174), Agonda panchayat (162), Chodan panchayat (155), Reis Magos panchayat (143), Guirim panchayat (109), Aldona panchayat (107), Advoi panchayat (105), Anjuna panchayat (104) and Mormugao municipality (100) were among the areas which also recorded a high number of vaccinations.
On the other hand, however, only 34 beneficiaries came forward to receive their second dose of the Covid vaccine. Till date, the government has succeeded in fully vaccinating only 95,886 beneficiaries while the number of partially vaccinated beneficiaries is just above three lakh.
