26-year-old worker found dead at Siolim project

A 26-year-old labourer from Bihar was found dead at an under-construction project in Siolim on Thursday morning, prompting the Anjuna Police to register a case of unnatural death and launch an investigation.

According to police, the incident came to light at around 11.55 am after Police Constable Aviraj Mandrekar received a phone call from contractor Abhijeet Mapsekar, a native of Bhedi in Dodamarg, Maharashtra.

The contractor informed the police that the site's security guard, Sonveer Baghel, a native of Madhya Pradesh, had discovered a labourer lying motionless at the construction site of Conscient Infrastructure Pvt Ltd at Survey No 40/4 in Siolim.

Following the information, PSI Nitesh Shingadi rushed to the site to verify the report. On reaching the construction site, police found the labourer, identified as Subhash Kumar (26) a resident of Bihar, lying dead.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The body is expected to be sent for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is underway.
