Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Goa BJP President Damu Naik on Thursday defended the Centre’s response to examination paper leaks, saying strict action had been taken in the alleged NEET malpractice case and reforms introduced to improve the examination system.
Their statements came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that fast-track courts would be set up to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases. He warned that those harming the future of students would face strict action.
Sawant said the Prime Minister had made the government’s stand clear, with no compromise on the future of the youth.
“Strict action has been taken against those responsible, and strong reforms have been introduced to ensure a transparent, fair and credible examination system,” Sawant said in a social media post.
Naik said the government had acted quickly in the NEET case by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which resulted in the arrest of the accused.
He said measures had been introduced to strengthen the examination process, including stricter penalties of imprisonment and fines of up to Rs 1 crore for those involved in malpractice.
Naik accused the Congress of misleading people and said the BJP-led government remained committed to protecting students’ interests.
Modi said those trying to damage students’ futures “will not be spared” and directed authorities to take necessary action.
