Police destroy seized drugs worth Rs 2.02 crore

PANAJI

The Goa Police on Thursday destroyed 46.363 kg of narcotic drugs worth Rs 2.02 crore seized in 18 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act across the State.

The disposal was carried out by the Drug Disposal Committee (DDC) through high-temperature incineration at the authorised facility of Biotic Waste Solutions Private Limited at Kundaim.

The exercise was conducted in the presence of Director General of Police Alok Kumar and under the supervision of DDC chairman and Deputy Inspector General of Police (ANC) Ved Prakash Surya.

The committee included Superintendent of Police, Anti Narcotic Cell, Sunita Sawant; SP (PHQ) Tushar Vernekar; and Director of Food and Drugs Administration Shweta Dessai.

The police said panch witnesses, authorised officers and Anti Narcotic Police Station personnel were present to ensure transparency and compliance with legal procedures.

The disposal was part of efforts to prevent misuse of seized narcotics and enforce the NDPS Act.
