PERNEM
The Covid count in Pernem taluka is on the verge of crossing the 800 mark after 28 patients tested positive on Thursday.
The new cases were reported in Parcem (2), Keri (1), Morjim (1), Tuem (5), Virnoda (1), Pernem town (1), Korgao (4), Ugvem (1), Naibag (1), Talarn (1), Mopa airport area (2), Varkhand (1), and Ibrampur (1), Dhargal Ayush Hospital area (6).
So far, Pernem has recorded 796 cases with Mandrem (130) leading the list. Other panchayats to record a surge in cases include Pernem town (76), Dhargal (70), Arambol (57), Korgao (53) and Tuem (52).
Meanwhile, there has been some anger among locals after Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar had promised to start the Covid care centre at Sawalwaddo a few days ago, but the centre is yet to be put into use.
