29 more in complaints list against Kamaxi Forex

Economic Offence Cell of Goa Police on Thursday registered 29 more complaints in the Kamaxi Forex case, taking the total number of plaints to 389 and cash tally to around `26 crore.

Sources have disclosed that Nilesh Raikar along with his mother Rekha Raikar purchased majority of the shares in and thereby taking over one Konkan Cultivators in 2004. This company was thereafter renamed as Kamaxi Forex Pvt Ltd, it has been learnt.  
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had granted permissions to the company to only carry out currency exchange. 
However, Raikar soon branched out into Fixed Deposit schemes and began offering post-dated cheques in connection with such schemes with time period of as high as five years.  
Speaking with the media at Police Headquarters in Panaji on Thursday, Deputy Superintendent of Police of EOC, Ezilda D’Souza informed that the investigating team has succeeded in tracing cellphone of the accused to a spot near the highway in Porvorim.  
“We have recovered the mobile of the accused from Porvorim, It appears that it was thrown at Porvorim. But he may have possessed more cellphones,” she said.  
D’Souza also disclosed that the in-laws of the accused are absconding and all cars owned by the accused are missing.  
Raikar, whose first office was based in Margao, had several other offices in Panaji, Calangute, Chinchinin, Mapusa and Mumbai. 
However, only the offices based in Panaji, Calangute and Margao were active, it has been learnt.  
Sources from EOC informed that the accused Nilesh Raikar has around 30 bank accounts in various banks across Goa, most of which were operated by him from Margao bank branches.
