Three youth from Chimbel have been arrested by Panaji police for their involvement in a vehicle theft racket.
19-year-old Vignesh Naik, 18-year-old Vardav Naik and 19-year-old Tushar Usgaonkar were apprehended and arrested by the Panaji police on October 12 midnight after they were found roaming and behaving suspiciously at night time.
When the police interrogated them, the youth revealed information about the vehicles stolen by them.
A bike under dismantled condition was recovered from them and police are in search of other bikes and also the other people involved in the racket including some garage owners and mechanics.
“They steal vehicles and dismantle them immediately and sell the dismantled parts to garage owners or mechanics,” police informed.
The dismantled chassis and other parts were painted and were sold at half price.
The police have filed an FIR under Section 379 of the IPC and the three accused have been sent to six days of police custody.
