Faced with constant power outages on account of an outdated power distribution system, the Village Panchayat  of Carmona has resolved not to issue any NOC to multi-dwellings or commercial units in Olvaddo until the Electricity Department renovates and upgrades the power distribution system in the ward.

Carmona Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge said the residents especially of Olvaddo have borne the brunt of the monsoons causing repeated power breakdowns in the ward.

“Voltage fluctuation is common especially at night. Keeping this in mind the village panchayat has resolved that all builders coming up with multi-dwellings and commercial units will have to have their own source of power so that existing residents do not suffer.”

The Sarpanch said the panchayat has written to the Electricity Department, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral and the Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao to take steps to upgrade the power distribution system in the entire village.
