Meanwhile, at midnight on Friday, a Creta car travelling from Sangli towards Karwar went out of control at a bend in the same region and met with an accident. The car suffered extensive damage. Four persons travelling in the Creta were injured in the mishap.
The series of accidents has once again raised concerns over road safety along the Belagavi-Goa NH748 highway via Ramnagar, particularly at the dangerous bend near Jomtale.
Frequent accidents have been reported at this location, with more than five people reportedly losing their lives there over the past two years.
Locals have urged the authorities to take immediate safety measures at the accident-prone spot and install prominent warning signboards identifying the stretch as an “Accident-Prone Curve” to alert motorists and help prevent further tragedies.
