However, it is yet to take a call on whether to give marks to students who have not attempted the question.
Speaking to The Goan, a GBSHSE official informed, “At present we have decided to give three marks to those who have attempted the question. Some students claim that the question was not proper so they could not attempt. We will have to decide on whether to give marks to them or not.”
“The question was not wrong. But as there was an error in printing, some students could not interpret it properly”, he said.
Some of the Maths teachers had contacted the GBHSHE telephonically after which
it was decided to address the issue after proper consultation.
Several Class X students who answered the mathematics paper on Monday had stated that it was lengthy, tough and tricky with many not able to finish within the stipulated time.
The paper, however, was not out of syllabus, but average students found it very difficult to interpret as application-based questions were put to test.
The decision to allot 3 marks to the erroneous question will come as welcome relief for not only students, but parents alike who were seized of the matter.
