A woman sustained serious injuries while two others were hurt after an SUV met with a self-accident on the NH66 highway at Ugvem, Pernem, on Friday.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident occurred after the driver allegedly dozed off while driving.
According to information received, the vehicle was travelling from Kudal in Maharashtra to Ayush Hospital at Dhargal. Sushant Manerikar (28) was driving the SUV, while his parents, Chandrakant and Sulaksha, were travelling with him.
Police said Sushant allegedly lost control of the vehicle after dozing off, resulting in the accident. Sulaksha sustained serious injuries, while Chandrakant and Sushant also suffered injuries in the crash. All three were immediately shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Bambolim, where they are undergoing treatment.
After receiving information about the accident, a Pernem police team reached the spot and conducted a panchanama. Further investigation is underway.
