Three shops were flooded after a water pipeline burst in the central area of Valpoi town on Friday evening.
The affected shopkeepers had to rush to prevent further damage as water quickly entered their premises. The incident led to the wastage of thousands of litres of water for nearly two hours.
At present, large-scale digging work is being carried out in different parts of Valpoi. As a result, incidents of water pipelines bursting have reportedly increased in recent times. According to available information, the pipeline burst on the main road in the busy market area of the Valpoi municipality.
Reports indicate that water entered at least three shops, damaging goods kept inside.
Shopkeepers and workers rushed to remove the water from the shops and surrounding areas, while local residents also came forward to help.
Meanwhile, citizens have expressed growing dissatisfaction as such incidents of pipeline bursts have been increasing recently.
Shopkeepers stated that a pit had been dug earlier at the location where the pipeline burst. They believe that the pipeline might have been damaged during the digging work.
Water supply officials rushed to the spot and carried out repair work on the damaged pipeline. Nearly two hours of intensive efforts were needed to restore the situation.
