GAIL (India) Limited conducted an off-site Level-III mock drill on natural gas pipeline emergency response at Zuari Nagar, Sancoale, on Tuesday to test preparedness and coordination among emergency teams and local authorities.
The Deputy Collector and SDO of Mormugao attended as chief guest.
Officials from Goa Police, fire-fighting teams, and GAIL customers were also present. Personnel from the Verna Fire Service joined GAIL’s Quick Response Team (QRT) and maintenance staff in the exercise.
The drill simulated a gas leak and fire on a natural gas pipeline.
Teams demonstrated coordinated action to control the leak and contain the fire, following safety protocols and emergency procedures.
The operation was conducted in close coordination with senior officials and GAIL’s Regional Gas Management Centre (RGMC) in Bengaluru, along with local government emergency teams. The chief guest appreciated the preparedness and urged similar drills across the state.
