CANACONA
A little over 30,000 voters will determine the fate of nine candidates contesting the two Canacona ZP seats on Saturday. While Khola ZP constituency has 13,563 voters, the Poinguinim ZP constituency has 16,489 voters.
Khola ZP constituency will witness a fight between seven candidates, comprising four Independents and candidates from the BJP, Congress and AAP. The Poinguinim ZP constituency will encounter a straight fight between the Congress and BJP candidates.
Two magistrates each for Khola and Poinguinim ZP constituencies and three Flying Squads will oversee the conduct of polls at the 51 polling booths spread across Khola (22 booths) Poinguinim (29 booths), which had 4 panchayats apiece.
According to sources, each of the 51 polling booths has been allotted five polling staff, two policemen and a BLO. While a close contest between Congress and BJP is expected at the Poinguinim ZP polls, the AAP candidate is expected to give a tough fight to candidates of both national parties at the Khola ZP polls. Polling materials give ahead of Cortalim ZP polls.
