Around 1.58 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at the polls on Saturday to determine the fate of 31 candidates vying for nine ZP constituencies in Bardez taluka.
Women voters (81,369) outnumber their male counterparts (77,470) and while six ZP constituencies will witness a triangular fight, two ZP constituencies will have four candidates apiece and only Sirsaim ZP constituency will witness 5 candidates in the fray.
Former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar has fielded two candidates backed by him in Colvale and Sirsaim ZP constituencies.
Siolim ZP constituency has 15,290 voters and will witness a contest between Sanisha Toraskar (BJP), Suchita Pednekar (Congress) and Inez Doris e Dias (independent).
In the Colvale ZP constituency, it will be 14,963 voters who will decide the fate of four candidates, Govind Kubal (BJP), Satish Chodankar (Congress) and two independent candidates Kavita Kandolkar and Umesh Kavthankar.
The Aldona ZP constituency, which has 18,013 voters, will witness a triangular contest between Manisha Naik (BJP), Rubi Haldankar (Congress) and Smita Shet (AAP).
Sirsaim ZP constituency will witness a fight between five candidates, Diksha Kandolkar (BJP), Umakant Kudnekar (Congress), Godfrey D’Lima (AAP), Anand Temkar and Govind Govekar (independents).
As many as 16,345 will determine the fate of three candidates, Niharika Mandrekar (BJP), Sangita Lingudkar (Congress) and Aishwarya Salgaonkar (independent) at the Anjuna ZP polls.
Calangute ZP constituency, which has 21,477 voters, will witness a contest between Congress and AAP with their respective candidates Dattaprasad Dabholkar (BJP), Lawrence Silveira (Congress) and Manuel Cardozo (AAP).
Socorro ZP constituency has the maximum voters (22,505) and four candidates, Kartik Kudnekar (BJP), Sarvesh Naik (Congress), Mario Cordeiro (AAP) and Vaishali Satardekar (independent) are contesting the polls.
In Reis Magos ZP constituency, three candidates, Rupesh Naik (BJP), Hemant Malvankar (Congress) and Pragati Pednekar (independent) will seek the support of 17,860 voters.
Penha De Franca ZP constituency will witness a contest a triangular fight between Radhika Sawant (BJP), Pedrinha Gracias (Congress) and Kavita Naik (independent).
