The vaccination for people in the 18-plus age group began in Mormugao Taluka on Saturday, with 317 getting their first dose.
Sources said three vaccination centres were identified for the 18-plus age group at St Andrew Higher Secondary school Vaddem (Vasco), Our Lady of Perpetual Succor school (Cortalim) and Primary Health Centre (Cansualim).
Only people who had pre-booked their slots and had received confirmation were vaccinated and anybody who had the confirmation of the centre could arrive from any location in Goa.
Each vaccination centre had 110 bookings and 105 people got vaccinated at the Cortalim centre as 5 people were absent.
At the Cansaulim centre, 103 got vaccinated and two people had just recovered from Covid and could not be vaccinated, while 5 remained absent. At the Vasco centre, 109 got vaccinated and two remained absent.
“A total of 317 people got vaccinated at all three centres in Mormugao Ttaluka on Saturday," said the source.
Earlier, Mormugao Dy Collector Sachin Desai has announced a five-day mega vaccination drive for the 45-plus and 18-plus age groups in Mormugao taluka.
Speaking to reporters, Desai said vaccination centres have been identified in the municipal and panchayat levels across the taluka.
"One centre at St Andrew’s school in Vaddem has been identified for 18-plus age group on pre-registration.”
“For the 45-plus age group, we will have a vaccination drive in every panchayat and municipal area for five days. For municipal areas, we have identified St Andrew’s Church hall and Deep Vihar school at Sada.”
“At the panchayat level, we have identified Government primary school (Bogmalo), MES College and Rural Dispansary in Sancoale for Cortalim and Sancoale Panchayats, Our Lady of Sick Church Hall in Quelossim, Panchayat Market complex in Velsao and Sports Complex in Cansaulim Panchayat.”
