The power department finally restored electricity supply to Curtorim and surrounding villages late Wednesday, four days after cyclone Tauktae left behind a trail of destruction, devastating power infrastructure in the villages of Curtorim, Macazana, Nessai, Sao Jose de Areal and Navelim.
Executive engineer Alvito Fernandes, who supervised the work at Curtorim village, the most hit by the power outage since Sunday, informed late Wednesday evening that entire Curtorim village has been restored with power supply. He said there may be some individual and local issues here and there, adding that the power department has replaced the damaged power transformers and have charged the HT and LT lines in Curtorim village at 9 pm.
“Our linesmen will attend to calls of individual power consumers if they have issues”, he said.
The Executive Engineer said the department has managed to restore the HT and LT lines in the villages of Sao Jose de Areal and Navelim, adding that power has been restored in these village.
To a question, Alvito said that Power infrastructure has suffered huge damage in the villages of Curtorim, Macazana, Nessai, Sao Jose de Areal and Navelim, adding that the loss may run into several lakhs of rupees.
