MARGAO

A day after Cavelossim sarpanch Dixon Vaz had a meeting with shack owners and Goa police on beach hawkers, the Goa police arrested four beach hawkers who were harassing tourists at the beach at a starred hotel.

The hawkers were booked under section 34 of the IPC and will be produced before the Magistrate.

Sarpanch Dixon said the panchayat is serious about tackling the beach hawkers who are disturbing the tourists who visit the South goa beaches for a peaceful holiday.

“We all know the state of North Goa. There is hardly any beach where you can rest. These hawkers bring a bad name to our State. We have also requested the shack owners to work with the Goa police on tackling drugs and tourists driving on the beach,” the sarpanch said while thanking Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa for extending his full cooperation to stop hawkers menace at Cavelossim beach stretch.
