The accused were identified as Yaseen Ali Baig (21), Ahamed Shariff (30), Navaj Pasha (36) and Navshad Ahmed Moinuddin (45) all residents of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi informed that the owner of a hair cutting saloon at Moira lodged a complaint stating that four persons came in a golden coloured car and trespassed into his saloon at around 2 pm on Tuesday and abducted his staff Zunaid Zafeer (25) native of UP but residing in Porvorim.
Mapusa police immediately registered an FIR and launched a massive hunt of the accused.
Police teams were constituted to gather intelligence inputs and tracking the vehicle of the accused.
The details were then shared with police stations across the State.
Mapusa Police scanned CCTV footage from different spots to track the movement of the car.
In a joint operation of Mapusa and Old Goa Police, the car bearing registration no KA-01-ME-3851 was finally intercepted at Old Goa.
Police rescued the victim and took the four accused into custody. The car used in the crime was also attached.
“One of the relatives of the accused persons had eloped with a person from Karnataka. The accused suspected that the staff of the hair cutting salon had eloped with their relative and therefore abducted him,” Dalvi said.
