The electricity department in Valpoi had begun a drive to recover arrears from power consumers in Sattari and 400 consumers have already received notices in this regard.
There has been a crowd at the Valpoi electricity office, as consumers who have received notices are eager to clear their pending bills.
According to power officials, the recovery campaign has been initiated on account of a huge amount in arrears in Sattari.
“So far, almost 400 electricity consumers have been issued notices and recoveries are underway,” said an official.
When contacted, Valpoi Assistant Engineer Deepak Gawas confirmed that a campaign has been launched in Sattari following directives from senior account officials in order to recover arrears in the taluka.
“Notices have been sent to those whose have arrears of over Rs 5,000 and a15-day deadline has been given to defaulters to clear their dues. Defaulters have been warned that their electricity connections may be disconnected if they fail to clear their arrears within 15 days,” said Gawas.
“This campaign will continue for some time and we appeal to all consumers to clear their power dues.”
