Goa recorded 46,39,165 tourist arrivals between January and May 2026, registering a marginal growth of 0.39 per cent over the corresponding period last year, according to figures released by the Tourism Department.
The data, shared with the media on Friday, showed that the State received 44,37,018 domestic tourists and 2,02,147 foreign tourists during the first five months of the year. In May alone, Goa recorded 9,69,090 visitor arrivals, an increase of 4.53 per cent compared to May 2025.
The department attributed the growth to continued demand from both domestic and international markets despite uncertainties affecting global travel.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the increase in arrivals was being supported by improved connectivity and a broader range of tourism offerings.
“A combination of strong connectivity, diversified experiences and growing visitor confidence is driving Goa's tourism growth today. While our beaches remain iconic, travellers are increasingly exploring Goa's culture, heritage, spirituality, wellness offerings, hinterland experiences, festivals and culinary traditions. This broad-based growth is helping us build a more resilient tourism economy while ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach communities across the State,” he said.
The department further stated that domestic tourism continued to account for the bulk of arrivals, while international traffic was being supported through air connectivity, charter operations and cruise tourism.
It also cited the State’s two-airport network, comprising Dabolim Airport and Manohar International Airport, as a factor that improves accessibility for visitors.
Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said the figures reflected the sector's ability to sustain growth through destination development and connectivity improvements.
“The steady growth recorded during the first five months of 2026 demonstrates the strength and adaptability of Goa's tourism sector. Through focused destination development, improved connectivity and the promotion of varied tourism experiences, Goa is attracting visitors throughout the year and encouraging them to explore different facets of the destination. Our focus remains on enhancing visitor experiences while advancing responsible and sustainable tourism growth,” he said.
