5 children to get cardiac surgery in Bangalore

Five children with congenital heart diseases will get a new lease of life with the Rotary Club Panaji facilitating their surgeries in hospitals in Bangalore. Goa Medical College (GMC) has narrowed down these five most deserving children.
These five children are the first Goans to be part of the 12-year-old ‘Save a Heart’ campaign and will be given a completely sponsored trip and treatment to Bangalore.
Speaking to media persons about extending the campaign from the Rotary District 3190 of Maharashtra, the area district governor KP Nagesh said, “Our target is to get at least 50 children from Goa to be part of the campaign.”
The surgeries that would cost anywhere between Rs 3 to 4 lakh, under the campaign would cost a subsidized rate of between Rs 85,000 to Rs 1,25,000. The Rotary club has signed a MoU with major cardiac hospitals in Bangalore including Fortis, Jayadeva, Manipal, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Columbia Asia, Mahaveer Jain, Ramaiah and BGS Hospitals. The club also announced its 39th Rotary District Conference that will be held Kala Academy Goa on January 29 and 30. It is aligned with Rotary’s mission, which includes peace across the planet & polio eradication. India is now declared polio free.
