Porvorim Police have arrested five persons from Goa, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh on charges of attempt to murder case at Reis Magos.
According to Porvorim PI Anant Gaonkar, a complaint was lodged by the victim Shivaji Khanapurkar, a native of Khanapur-Karnataka on June 21 complaining that some unknown accused persons had attacked him with weapons resulting in fractures of both legs and other serious injuries on the rest of the body.
An FIR under Sections 307, 326, 506(ii),120-B, 143, 147 148 Read with 149 IPC was registered against the accused.
A team was formed to investigate the case and though there was no description of the accused, police acted on technical surveillance and information from reliable sources to identify the five accused.
Vishal Rathod (26) was arrested from Zuarinagar while Khudbodin Shaikh (19) was arrested from Baina-Vasco. Mohammad Faizan Sayyad (20) was arrested in Belgavi. Shiva Singh (20) and Rishoo Singh, both natives of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, were nabbed from Mopa Airport after laying a trap.
Police have recovered the weapons and the vehicles used in the commission of the crime, including a car and a scooter. All the accused are presently in police custody.
Some previous enmity over money lending is believed to be the motive of the crime.
The investigating team consisted of Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar, PSI Sanket Talkar, PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Pratik Bhat Prabhu and constables Nitesh Gaude, Yogesh Shinde, Mahadev Naik, Uttkarsh Dessai and Siddhesh Naik.The investigation was supervised by North SP Nidhin Valsan and DySP Vishwesh Karpe.
