The Goa Legislature Secretariat on Thursday released a notification regarding the upcoming election for the only Rajya Sabha seat, scheduled on July 24. Incidentally, the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will be underway, as it begins on July 18 till August 10.
BJP’s Vinay Tendulkar, who is currently representing Goa in Rajya Sabha, is set to complete his term on July 28.
As per the notification, the election will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm at the VIP Block of the Goa Assembly Complex in Porvorim. The deadline for filing nominations is July 13 while the scrutiny of nominations will take place on July 14 and withdrawal of nominations on July 17.
Along with Goa, the election for nine other Rajya Sabha seats will be held in Gujarat and West Bengal. The ECI also declared the same date for a bye-election in West Bengal, which fell vacant after Trinamool Congress MP Luizinho Faleiro resigned on April 11.
