VASCOIncidentally, the deceased, Nikesh Lot (28), had been out on bail fromjudicial custody sometime in April in connection with another case.Vasco police have arrested Arjun Naik (42), Chandrashekar Bhagat(47) both from Assoi Dongri, Saif Shaikh (26) and Sahil Shaikh (26)both from Alto Chicalim and Sakib Saudagar (25) of Zuarinagar inconnection with the murder of Lot.According to sources in Vasco police station, the incident hadoccurred at Assoi Dongri on Sunday night."A group of three persons (two brothers and a
cousin) had gone todrop a friend at Assoi Dongri, when Lot allegedly tried to stop the carand began arguing with them.The argument ended in a fight and Lot was assaulted as he tried toescape from the location.Police shifted the injured person to GMC where he was undergoingtreatment. The victim's mother had complained to Vasco Police andpolice had initially registered an offence against two persons underSection 307 for attempt to murder.However, the victim succumbed to injuries while undergoingtreatment at GMC on Tuesday and police registered a case ofmurder," said the source.Sources said the deceased had previous cases registered against him"Besides, there is a case of assault and the deceased was out on bailfrom judicial custody sometime in April," said source.Sources also added that the five accused have been remanded topolice custody and further investigations are under progress.
