57-yr-old female pedestrian dies in accident near Cortalim junction

A 57-year-old woman from Lotoulim was killed in a road mishap after being hit by a car near the Cortalim junction.

According to sources, the incident took place as Femila Dias (50) of Chinchinim was driving her car from Panaji towards the Margao side.

When she reached the Cortalim junction, her vehicle knocked down Rosa Maria Fernandes who was crossing the road and further struck another car, which was proceeding from the Panaji side towards the Margao side and one stationary motorcycle by the roadside of the NH66 highway at Cortalim Junction.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and succumbed while undergoing treatment at GMC hospital Bambolim.

Verna police have registered an offence under Section 279, 304-A IPC and PSI Sanket Talkar is carrying out a further investigation under the supervision of PI Diago Gracias and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
