The police have invited a five-member group of people from the Rumdamol Housing Board led by panch member Vinayak Volvoikar with their grievances on Monday.
Margao Sub-Divisional Police Officer, DySP Santosh Desai invited the delegation of people for the meeting on Monday in a bid to diffuse the tension that ran high again in the Rumdamol Housing Board on Sunday evening.
A large group of people assembled at the Rumdamol police outpost and were raising slogans of Jai Shivaji, Jai Bhavani as they protested over Saturday night attack on panch member Vinayak Volvoikar.
The people complained about the anti-social activities going unabated in the Housing Board area, the illegal scrapyards that have been the centre of these illegal activities and the madrassa operating in a residential area.
They also demanded the arrest of the person involved in the attack on Panch Volvoikar and demanded to know whether the police would offer them any security against further assaults.
DySP Desai along with Maina-Curtorim PI Ravi Desai assured the people that the police would take up their issues with the higher authorities for necessary action.
The police had mobilised entire force from the Margao police sub-division from Margao, Fatorda, Cuncolim and Colva, besides Maina-Curtorim to avert major law and order problem.
