Tragedy struck a Bengaluru-based family when a five-year-old boy died after he consumed water while he was in the swimming pool at Varca three days ago.
The boy was rushed to the South Goa district hospital and was later shifted to the Goa Medical college and hospital Bambolim where he breathed his last after battling for life for a day.
Margao Sub-divisional police officer, DySP Santosh Desai informed that the family had come down to Goa and was putting up in a resort at Varca.
"According to information, the father along with his son and daughter had entered the pool. The five-year-old boy is believed to have drank water when the father's attention was on his daughter. The boy was rushed to the south Goa district hospital and was later shifted to the GMC Bambolim where he breathed his last," DySP Santosh informed.
The body was later handed over to the relatives after post-morten examination, he added.
