CANACONA
As many as 617 students in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated with Covaxin jabs in two days in Canacona.
During a vaccination programme held at S S Angle Higher Secondary School, Maxem, on Tuesday, 309 of the 365 eligible students were administered the vaccinations.
“There were a few who were already 18-plus, while a few students did not opt for the vaccination,” informed a source from the health team.
On Monday, the first day of vaccination, 308 of the 392 eligible students were administered the vaccination at Government Higher Secondary school, Mastimoll.
On Wednesday, a total of 318 students will be offered Covaxin jabs at a programme in Shri Balram Higher Secondary School (SBHSS), Ordhfond for the ones studying in SBHSS, Balram Residential High School, Amone, Balram A Day Care, Vodamol, St Francis Xavier Bhatpal and Govt High School, Shrishthal.
According to health sources, a total of 2,226 students in the 15-18 age group have been identified and will be vaccinated with Covaxin by January 10 at 11 different vaccination centres/schools in Canacona.
The vaccination team consists of Dr Iona Barretto, Dr Snehal Desai, Dr Dipika Shet Desai, vaccinators (3), staff nurse (1), data entry operators (3) and registration staff (3), peon(1) and driver (1).
