The BJP-led government has marked seven projects to be undertaken under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in the State.
In reply to a question tabled by Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavalekar during the recently-concluded session of the Goa Assembly, Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar disclosed details of the projects taken up under PPP model.
These include the construction of greenfield international airport at Mopa, passenger ropeway project between Panaji and Reis Magos, maintenance and bearing energy consumption charges of the street lights installed over a stretch of 14.6 km from Varca Junction to Leela Hotel, two solid waste treatment plants at Cacora and Saligao, Goa Broad band Network Project, implementation and operation of beach surveillance system and a plant for conversion of post-consumer mixed waste plastics from municipal solid waste to fuel or hydrocarbon.
It was informed that an amount of Rs 54.79 crore has been spent on land Acquisition and Rs 18.23 crore has been spent on consultancy charges for the Mopa airport.
The financial bid has not been opened for the passenger ropeway project between Panjim and Reis Magos on PPP model under Goa Tourism Development Corporation.
Rs 218.03 crore will be spent on the BBBN project over a period of 10 years, it was stated.
Saligao solid waste management plant in North Goa at the cost of Rs 145.95 crore and Cacora plant in South Goa at the cost of 145.95 crore also fall under the PPP model.
Lastly, Rs 15 crore was spent on the setting up of a plant for conversion of post-consumer mixed waste plastics from Municipal solid waste in to fuel or hydrocarbon.
Parsekar said that PPP projects will be undertaken in future depending on variables such as administrative requirement, techno-economic feasibility, private sector expertise and so on.
