MARGAO
Overwhelmed by the massive crowd at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally at the Margao KTC bus stand on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that an estimated 70,000 people have made it for the rally.
In fact, just before the Prime Minister could take the dais at the venue, the Chief Minister took the microphone to make a request to the crowd sitting inside to make room for people stranded outside the pandal.
He said an estimated 10,000 people are left outside the venue and requested the people to take the seats and leave the rest for the people outside to enter inside.
Given that the massive turnout will have a bearing on the catering arrangements put in place at four different venues around the venue, the Chief Minister shuttled between the venue to the SGPDA ground to ensure that the served lunch by the caterers.
As he was taking stock of the arrangements just before the rally could take off, Sawant told the media that around 70,000 people have turned up for the rally out of love for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development works executed by the double engine governments.
“All these people have come out of love for Modi and our development works. Of course, I am happy over the big turn out and to extend support to the rally”, he added.
When the rally was first planned last month, the authorities had anticipated a crowd of around 20,000-25,000. Two days ago, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the turn out will exceed the 50,000 mark.
