MAPUSA
The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on Friday remanded three men to eight days’ police custody in connection with an attempted murder case reported from Nagoa earlier this month.
The accused – Radheshyam (31), Lekhram (30) and Sunil (29), all residents of Haryana – were arrested by the Anjuna Police and brought to Goa on Thursday after being tracked down in Rajasthan.
The police sought their custodial remand to investigate the motive, recover the weapon used in the crime, and identify possible accomplices.
According to the police, the trio allegedly assaulted one Ashok (31), a resident of Guirim, with an iron rod, inflicting serious injuries to his head and other parts of the body.
The assault, police said, was carried out with the intention of killing the victim.
“The attack appears to have been the fallout of a dispute related to the delivery of gas cylinders to customers. The accused assaulted the victim in a premeditated manner before fleeing the State,” a police official said.
Anjuna Police nabbed trio after sustained surveillance and technical tracking. Further investigation is in progress.
