8 injured in bus mishap at Quepem

Eight passengers were injured, three of them seriously, when a local bus with 18 passengers onboard rammed into a compound wall at Akamol-Quepem on Monday.  

According to reports, the mishap took place as the bus was proceeding from Cuncolim towards Ambaulim.  

The accident was so sudden and unexpected that none of the passengers were actually certain what actually happened at that very moment.   

Some passengers believed the driver was busy talking on the mobile phone, while other suspect the driver may have dozed off for a second or two, which resulted in the accident.  

Moments after the mishap, residents from nearby houses rushed on the spot and removed all passengers from the bus.  

Eight passengers were injured in the mishap and five were sent to Balli Primary Health Centre. Four of them were later discharged after treatment for minor injuries, while one was sent to Hospicio hospital at Margao for observation.  

Three persons, who sustained head injuries, were shifted to Hospicio hospital.
