The government is in its last stage of process of issuing a final notification to declare 8 approved wetlands along with its buffer zone and zone of influence.
The Bondvol Lake (Calapur, Tiswadi), Cottombi Lake (Cottambi, Quepem), Toyyar Lake (Chimbel, Tiswadi), Sarzora Lake (Sarzora, Salcete), Saulem Lake (Pilern, Bardez), Xeldem Lake (Xeldem, Quepem), Dashi Lake (Revora, Bardez) and Nanda Lake (Curchorem, Quepem) are the lakes which will be notified as wetlands.
After the notifications, these wetlands will be reflected in the Regional Plan 2021.
Earlier government had issued list of 11 draft wetland areas in the State in an official gazette. However, only 8 out of these 11 draft wetlands have been approved by the Goa State Wetland Authority.
The Goa State Wetland Authority in its meeting in March 2021 has approved these wetlands for final notification. However, the final notification has not been issued till date.
Meanwhile, the guidelines have been formulated by technical committee of Goa State Wetland Authority for demarcation of zone of influence around this wetlands and the determination of activities which are permitted, regulated or prohibited in this areas.
