Telangana, India's 28th state, which has been making great strides in all spheres under the leadership of its chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, is celebrating its Statehood day on June 2.
In its 8 years of developmental activities, a farmer is considered a king in Telangana. The Telangana government, unheard of anywhere in the country is providing 24x7 quality free power to the agriculture sector. It is the first state in the country to introduce Rytu Bandhu scheme providing crop input assistance to the tune of Rs 10,000 per annum. In the last eight seasons, the Telangana government has assisted 63 lakh farmers with Rs 50,448 crore. The government introduced the Rytu Bhima scheme to support farmers' families in the event of farmers' accidental death with a 100% premium paid by the government and claims settlement within 10 days of death through LIC to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs. The government insurance money has reached 80,600 affected farmer families.
The welfare sector in Telangana has been witnessing a golden chapter with the Telangana Government providing livelihood safety to destitute, senior citizens, widows, single women, weavers, toddy tappers and AIDS patients with monthly Asara pensions of Rs 2016. Physically challenged persons get a pension of Rs 3016 per month, Beedi workers Rs 2016 per month, and patients suffering from Elephantiasis Rs 2016 per month, government assistance that is only available in Telangana and are just some of the many programmes made available.
The Telangana government launched the unique Dalit Bandhu scheme to empower Dalits and ensure their comprehensive development. A one time grant of Rs 10 lakhs is provided to each Dalit family, for their self-employment and empowerment in social and economic sectors. Dalit Bandhu is the mega cash transfer scheme in the world. Without any bank linkage requirements and also the burden of repayment, Rs 10 lakhs grant to each Dalit family. The beneficiary is at liberty to engage in the employment stream of his choice.
Telangana is promoting village and town development unheard of elsewhere in the country. Special action plans were implemented for comprehensive and integrated development of basic amenities and civic infrastructure in villages, towns and cities of the state. Telangana conceived model Panchayat Raj and Municipal Acts and effectively implemented them.
A sum of Rs 256.66 crore is directly released every month for the maintenance of the village and local bodies' institutions.
The government fulfilled a long time aspiration of tribals and adivasi by granting gram panchayat status to Girija and Adivasi Thandas.
Telangana has proudly set up the largest number of Gurukul educational institutions in the country. Comprising 973 Gurukulas with five lakh students provided an International standard of Education. The government spent Rs 1.25 lakh on every student of Gurukulas annually. Fine rice meals, free books and uniforms are provided in these institutions.
Telangana offers state of the art medical facilities. Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) is constituted to not only extend the medical services but also to provide corporate level medical facilities to the poor. As part of the TIMS Super speciality Hospitals on the periphery (Four sides) of Hyderabad City, the TIMS at Gacchibowli has already started extending its services to the people. Foundation Stones were laid for the TIMS Super speciality Hospitals at Alwal, LB Nagar, Sanath Nagar. The State government is opening one Government Medical College in every district.
On its path to progress, the state has made some impressive leaps. In the last eight years, Telangana State GSDP increased from Rs 4,51,580 Crore to Rs 11,54,860 Crore. From 2015 to 2021, Telangana State stood first among the southern states with 11.7 per cent average economic growth. In the last eight years, the State’s Per Capita income has remarkably increased from Rs 1,24,104 to Rs 2,78,833.
