VIJAI SARDESAI (GFP), FATORDA CONSTITUENCY
The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Vijai Sardesai: While many constituencies have remained where they were 10 years ago, Fatorda has moved 10 years ahead. And in another five years, we’ll move further ahead. People have seen their lives improve, and I have played my part.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the assembly?
VS: 80% job reservation for local youth in the private sector. Also, simultaneously I’ll reverse every law that disadvantages locals against outsiders in every sector.
TG: Who is that one leader outside your party you admire as a politician and why?
VS: Naveen Patnaik is a CM who silently put Odisha on a path of unprecedented progress and was successful in getting his people’s continuous support for over two decades.
TG: Who would be your CM choice, should your party come into power?
VS: I’ve already stated that we’ll have a Congress CM, and the choice is up to them.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain.
VS: I hold the view that any shift in political affiliation necessitates the representatives to seek the mandate of the people again.
TG: Do you feel the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win?
VS: Yes. There’s a clear anti-BJP wave in Goa today. That will favour the Congress-GFP alliance. We’ll have a clear majority. I’m very confident that both our GFP candidates will create history in Mayem and Mandrem.
