8-yr-old boy drowns while fishing

An eight-year-old boy from Jharkhand drowned while fishing in a water body located in a field at Socolwaddo-Assagao on Monday.

According to reports, the incident occurred at about 11 am when the deceased, Dhiraj Matut, along with his 10-year-old brother, had gone for fishing in the field at Assagao.  
As the duo was fishing in the pond, Dhiraj slipped and fell into the water body. Seeing him struggling in water, his brother raised an alarm and ran to call villagers for help. However, by the time villagers could reach the spot, Dhiraj had drowned. One of the village youths jumped into the pond and fished out the body.  
Later, the villagers informed the Anjuna police, who rushed to the site, conducted the panchanama and sent the body for autopsy at GMC Hospital in Bambolim.
