PANAJI: Nine more Covid-related deaths were recorded on Tuesday taking the death toll of Covid-19 in Goa to 245.
A total of 344 new cases were also reported. With this, The total active cases stand at 4,501 of whom 358 have chosen to remain under home isolation. The total number of confirmed cases has risen to 21,173 of which 16,427 have recovered.
A third of those who passed away in the last 48 hours did not suffer from any prior comorbid conditions. The list of deceased patients includes a 66 year-old man from Chimbel, a 66 year-old man from Merces and an 83 year-old man from Siridao admitted at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim passed away on Monday. A 49 year-old man from Ponda admitted at GMC passed away on Monday. An 83 year-old man from Karaswada, a 54 year-old man from Khandola and a 52 year-old man from Betki admitted at GMC succumbed to the infection on Tuesday. All three of them suffered form prior comorbid conditions.
A 55 year-old woman from Rawanfond admitted at ESI Covid Hospital and a 46 year-old man from Assagaon admitted at GMC lost their lives on Tuesday.
With the exception of the female patient, bilateral pneumonia with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome was the immediate cause for the death of eight patients.
While tree patients, the 49 year-old man from Ponda, 46 year-old man from Assagaon and the 55 year-old woman from Rawanfond, did not suffer from any comorbid conditions, the remaining six had a variety of comorbidities which include Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, hypertension, diabetes, hypothyroidism and obstructive sleep apnea.
Presently, the availability of beds in Covid Care Centers in North Goa is 205 while 437 beds are available in South Goa's Centers.
