98 abandoned vehicles identified in Margao

The Margao Municipal Council has identified around 98 abandoned, scrapped, old and unclaimed vehicles lying on the roadside that occupy parking spaces within the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council jurisdiction.

Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes, who has initiated the exercise to clear the roadsides of the abandoned and junk vehicles with the help of the traffic police, has said the list of abandoned vehicles has been displayed on the municipal notice board.

He pointed out that the owners of the vehicles will be identified through the Office of the Directorate of Transport, South Goa. The MMC has sent a letter to the transport officials at Margao to furnish the details of the owners,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Officer has said that around 30 places are identified where CCTV installations are required in the city. This is in addition to the earlier locations where installation work is underway through Nupur Agency, he said.

Agnelo pointed out that the proposal for the installation of additional CCTV surveillance cameras will be placed before the MP to sanction it under the MPLAD scheme.
