A day after, salvage operations in full swing across villages

OLD GOA
A day after Cyclone Tauktae left behind a trail of destruction, salvage operations were in full swing in several villages of Tiswadi in an attempt to clear fallen trees and restore power services.

In Merces, trees which had fallen and blocked the roads near the panchayat were cleared only in the morning to allow smooth flow of traffic.

Also, at Kumbarvaddy-Merces, an uprooted coconut tree was hanging precariously over power lines.

In GMC complex at Bambolim, several two-wheelers were damaged as a tree uprooted and fell on them.

At Goa Velha, near the market junction, a huge banyan tree fell across the main road and workers were seen clearing the tree so that the road could be cleared for traffic and also the power lines replaced to ensure power supply in the village. A van was also destroyed in the incident.

At Pilar too, workers were seen clearing the trees which had fallen on the main road.

Similar scenes were witnessed at Azossim-Mandur, Carambolim and other villages as the workers of various departments worked relentlessly to bring normalcy in their respective villages.
