State Directorate of Education (DoE) has extended the deadline for enrolment of students under AADHAAR to September 30.

Speaking to The Goan Everyday, Education Director Gajanan Bhat informed that the deadline has been extended owing to the rush at AADHAAR centres.
"We had set a deadline of September 20 for students to enrol under AADHAAR. But we realised that a few students could not be enrolled due to heavy rush at the AADHAAR centres. Already 96.6 per cent students have been enrolled under AADHAAR", said Bhat adding that the those unable to complete enrolment will have to do it by September 30.
DoE had earlier asked the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation (DPSE) to provide them with AADHAAR kits, so that all the students can be enrolled under AADHAAR at the earliest.
The DoE had asked the headmasters and principals of all the schools upto class XII to enrol all the students under AADHAAR by mid-July earlier. This was then extended to September 20 as all the students who were not enrolled under AADHAAR rushed to the respective enrolment centres resulting into heavy rush.
It may be recalled that in April this year, the DoE had issued a circular to make AADHAR mandatory in schools from the academic year 2017-18, mainly for availing of the various schemes including mid-day meals and scholarships, etc.
The circular had stated: "The use of Aadhar as an identity document for delivery of services or benefits or subsidies, simplifies the government delivery process, brings in transparency and efficiency, and enables beneficiaries to get entitlements directly to them in a convenient and seamless manner."
