Aam Aadmi Party Declares Venzy Viegas as South Goa Candidate for Lok Sabha Polls

In a significant move, Aam Aadmi Party's South Goa Incharge, Gerson Gomes, announced on Tuesday that the party's national leadership had designated Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas as the party's candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in South Goa.

Amit Palekar, Aam Aadmi Party's Chief in Goa emphasised the party's commitment to presenting a fresh, untainted, and dedicated figure to the electorate. "We wanted to give a new, clean, and loyal face to the people; Venzy is widely accepted in South Goa," stated. He highlighted Viegas's extensive experience across various sectors, including health and education, as instrumental in garnering support for his candidacy. “The people of South Goa have seen his work and requested that he be nominated to contest for the Goa Lok Sabha seat,” added Palekar.

Palekar also reiterated the party's alliance with the INDIA alliance, noting delays from the Congress central leadership in finalising seat-sharing arrangements in Goa. AAP spokesperson Valmiki Naik echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the urgency of the forthcoming elections and hence could not delay the announcement.

"Time is of the essence, and the candidate must be declared on time. Sufficient time is required for campaign strategy formulation and for the candidate to engage with the people," Naik emphasized, clarifying AAP's continued partnership with the INDIA alliance.
