The Aam Aadmi Party has kicked off its campaign for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday with corner meetings at Mandopa and Navelim crossroad junctions.
The meeting was attended by AAP State convenor Elvis Gomes, whose candidature has been recommended by the party’s leadership for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat.
Addressing the meeting, AAP leader Sidharth Karapurkar sought to silence those who go to the town saying that AAP could not open its account in the 2017 Assembly election.
He said though the party has not won any seats, the people of Goa lost an opportunity to see good governance in all sectors.
He further said the people of Goa would have benefited by a host of schemes on the lines of Delhi if the party had to come to power in the state. “Our leaders do not own Rs 100 crore bungalows. We are committed to the welfare of the common man. Our government would bring many schemes on the lines of Delhi to Goa,” he said.
In fact, the AAP leaders told the people that the name of party state convenor Elvis Gomes has been recommended as the party candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat.
Elvis Gomes, Melvyn Pereira and others who addressed the corner meetings highlighted the state of affairs in the state administration.
That the Aam Aadmi Party has geared up for the Lok Sabha polls is not only evident by the campaign that was kicked off from Navelim on Tuesday, but the party volunteers have called for a protest morcha at Colva on Wednesday to highlight the state of affairs of the water body and other issues.
