PANAJI
On Friday, the Panaji police arrested four persons for alleged illegal supply of diesel to Casino Pride 2.
“Not only has the government reneged on its promise to remove the casinos from the River Mandovi within six months, but now it is even going to the extent of protecting the casinos themselves from this black marketeering racket,” AAP secretary Prakash Naik said.
Diesel allegedly from the black market was being supplied to the casino with
the police also seizing a tanker containing 6,000 litres of diesel worth
Rs 3 lakh.
“This scam will have been going on for a while. We have reason to believe that there are people who are within the government who are behind this. There should be a CBI inquiry to get to the bottom of this,” Naik said adding that the Goa police would not be able to rise above political interference in
the case.
The party also hit out at Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for the government circular which downgraded officers ranks leading to fury among the ranks.
“Is the Defence Minister the army’s friend or enemy. After reducing disability pensions and years of battle for the OROP this latest move against the armed forces shows that the government doesn’t care about the army.”
The armed forces are upset with a letter issued
by the Defence Ministry regarding their rank parity
vis-a-vis their civilian
counterparts.
