Firmly ruling out the possibility of any alliance with the Congress in the ensuing Lok Sabha election, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday said the party will contest both the Lok Sabha seats  in Goa, promising to replicate the Delhi governance model here to end corruption and resolve the mining imbroglio.

AAP state convenor Elvis Gomes, while hitting out at the Congress and BJP for fooling Goans with empty promises on according Special Status to the State, said that AAP will work out something on the lines of special status which Goans will be proud of.

Addressing the media, MP Sanjay Singh urged the people of South Goa to elect an honest candidate such as Elvis Gomes to Parliament so that people’s voice are heard. “We have to send good and honest candidates to Parliament. Elvis should be elected to ensure we have a corruption-free atmosphere,” he said.

He said AAP will contest the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Goa, besides other states where the party has some strength. To another query, he said AAP will offer issue-based support to the anti-BJP group in Parliament and will maintain a watch on the government functioning.

He said mahagathbandhan is the need in the country to counter the politics of hatred, communalism and goondaism, saying unity of the opposition parties will help arrest this trend.

The AAP slammed the BJP government at the centre and in Goa on a host of issues. Singh demanded to know how come Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has failed to recover the mining loot after going to the town with a claim pegging the mining loot at Rs 35,000 crore.

At the national level, Singh said while AAP has come out with a governance model with focus on health, education and other key areas, the BJP is not discussing the governance model, but is indulging in the politics of caste, religion and love jihad.

“The BJP had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the accounts of citizens. Leave alone depositing any amount, the government has failed to get the black money from Swiss banks till date,” he said, while accusing the BJP government at the Centre for playing divisive politics in the name of religion.

“The country’s unity lies in diversity. We have many religions, languages and regions. Unity in diversity is our identity. BJP wants to destroy this,” he charged.

On the Pulwama terror attack, he demanded to know why were the CRPF jawans were not airlifted when there was specific intelligence received on February 8 about the attack.

“The Prime Minister should answer why no helicopters are available for the CRPF and other jawans. They had to travel by bus out of necessity for want of helicopters,” he said.

Asserting that time has come to give a befitting response to Pakistan, he lamented that the Prime Minister was not strong in his response.

“The Prime Minister has no concern for the jawans. He was busy shooting a film and addressing a rally,” he said, while saying that the PM is responsible for spreading hatred in the country and receiving a peace award in Seoul.
